books
I've been thinking seriously of getting rid of a number of books from my insanely large collection. I seem to finally be passing out of my obsessive reading phase of life, and my intense desire to own books I've never even read is fading. Is it really necessary for me to keep four hundred books in my house at all times? The logical answer is no. I don't read them all; I've never read them all and I never even intended to read them all; I'm just a collector. It could well be time to weed out the collection, select only what's still valuable and enjoyable, and donate the rest to a library or something.
I've got classics of Western literature, classics of Eastern literature, everything ever written by David Eddings and CJ Cherryh, an unfortunately large collection of Anne Rice vampire (I hesitate to use the word 'novels', but for lack of a better descriptor...) books, an even more unfortunate collection of Star Trek: DS9 novels (hey! They continued the series in books! What was I supposed to do?), a lingering selection of Dragonlance culled from previous efforts to rid myself of books I didn't even like-- I don't read them anymore, but what if I ever wanted to?-- all the Pern books by Anne McCaffery (I once had a dream that I met her), the Merlin Trilogy by Mary Stewart in duplicate, The Lioness Rampant series by Tamora Pierce, all the Rosemary Sutcliffe historical fiction, CS Lewis' Naria series, the Lloyd Alexander fantasy series, Harry Potter, the Sharon Kay Penman historical fiction, the Talking to Dragons series by Patricia Wrede and the most excellent and soon to be tragically mangled films series The Dark Is Rising by Susan Cooper, the FAKE graphic novels, a number of single pieces by authorial greats like Jane Yolen and Lisa Goldblum...
And then there's the serious stuff, a collection of about two hundred books of either literary criticism or historical material all relating to Marlowe or Alexander Hamilton, the two men who, should I die a martyr, I will expect to see waiting for me upon my ascension into Heaven.
(I know one of them was gay. But the mind, the mind!)
Maybe I'll have a book sale. Of course, now that I've shown you a list of all my actually good books, who would want to buy the rejects?
I have to clean today. I so so so so so do not want to.
Harry Potter (spoilers ahead)

All's well that ends well, yeah?
Also, new chapter of Properties of Zero due out soon.
